Two Recent Layouts

First, a serious layout. My husband's grandmother, Nana Shirley, passed away two weeks ago, just one week shy of her 90th birthday. Our entire extended family had planned to fly to Los Angeles to celebrate her birthday over the President's Day weekend and we all went to LA anyway. Shirley's two daughters, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren, four grandchildren-in-law, and six great-grandchildren gathered to share memories and spend time with one another. We celebrated Shirley with a grand feast, dining on everyone's favorite Shirley recipes: tuna salad, pot roast, cole slaw, noodle kugel, and her oh-so-famous rugelach (filled cookies that look like little croissants). The adults spent one evening sharing our favorite memories of Shirley and after returning home I created a layout about my favorite Shirley memory:

(All patterned papers and letter stickers are October Afternoon; the fabric-covered chipboard dress form and buttons are American Crafts.)

Next, a much lighter layout, with journaling written by Eli:

(October Afternoon patterned paper and die cuts - I had been perplexed as to what to do with the nightlight lightbulb die cut until Eli received this present! The letter stickers are American Crafts foam Thickers.)

October Afternoon Reveal Now!

Okay, so I missed all the fun on the October Afternoon blog today since I had possibly one of the the longest days ever. Ever. I got everyone out the door, got myself to work, worked all day, picked the kids up from camp (Eli, since today was a teacher planning day) and school (Sadie), filled up the car with gas, took Eli to his 7-year checkup (all is well), ran a quick errand at Mailboxes Etc., went to Target to buy birthday presents and food since the pantry was empty after our long weekend in an oh-so-cold-and-rainy Venice Beach, came home, made dinner, bathed Sadie, and put the kids to bed. Seriously. I was on from 7:00am to 9:00pm straight. Anyway....I still have tons to do tonight before going to bed so I'll make the rest of this short. Check out the full reveal of the Cherry Hill line as well as the partial reveal of the Road Map line (click on my link in the first line above...if you haven't already ;)). The rest of the Road Map line and the Ducks in a Row line are coming soon. I am seriously in love with all of it. Seriously. Kim just keeps outdoing herself with new products and new designs.

Gasp...Two Posts in One Day?!

Yup. This is what happens when I am home with a sick kiddo. (Who finally seems to be on the mend, thank goodness, and doesn't have strep, thank goodness!) I photographed a couple of layouts I've done in recent weeks and decided to share:

I had fun mixing old and new product here. I am so in love with these cute monsters from the October Afternoon Night Light collection! I combined them with Making Memories and Creative Imaginations papers plus some Scenic Route chipboard, American Crafts Thickers, a Jenni Bowlin ticket, and a Creative Imaginations definition sticker. I've been clearing out my scrap space and purging lately and have rediscovered all kinds of goodies I can't wait to use!

This one is another "I cleaned out and rediscovered" kind of layout. American Crafts and Scenic Route patterned paper, Scenic Route chipboard, another Jenni Bowlin ticket, Making Memories tiny alphas, and an American Crafts foam Thicker (can that be singular?) van. And yes, while at Ben & Jerry's I photographed the pointing hand sign from both sides knowing those images would come in handy on a layout - I am shameless like that. ;)

To see a third project you will have to go to the October Afternoon blog. It's a Valentine's Day project. I never make projects, but was somehow inspired this year. Go figure!

More October Afternoon Sneaks!

October Afternoon is doing an 8-day countdown with sneaks leading up to an online event at 11:00 am Central Standard Time (10:00 on the east coast, noon here in Denver, and 1:00 for all you west coasters) on Monday, February 16th.

Check it on on the October Afternoon blog!

7th Birthday

This kid:

Had a basketball birthday party:

But requested a map cake (decorated by dad):

All of this took place the day after his actual birthday, when he got to go out to dinner at Rioja, shared the Rioja Picnic with his dad, and then had the special: pork belly with chicken confit and brussels sprout pot pie. Our server didn't know it, but she had him at "brussels sprouts." Life is never dull with Eli around! :)
