One of the perks of having a husband who is a delegate is that you get to claim one of his tickets to the Obama speech at Invesco Field. This perk, however, is in direct opposition to the perk of having adorable young children...who bring germs home to share, specifically stomach virus germs. Sigh... I just couldn't imagine competing for a toilet with 75,000 other people and made the decision yesterday afternoon to offer up my ticket. So, instead of me, my lovely friend, Susan, who is a history professor, will be enjoying the use of my ticket this evening. Of course, in true Murphy's Law fashion, I had my first real food an hour or so ago and seem to be doing fine.
Here's how close I was:

I think I will just have to console myself with the fact that I have this:

And with the fact that my children are watching the convention right now and just saw their dad in the audience three times in a row within about a minute and a half. That makes multiple times we've seen Seth on TV - I keep getting phone calls and emails from family and friends near and far who've caught him in the audience at the Pepsi Center while watching C-SPAN or MSNBC or have seen him being interviewed on some of our local TV stations.

oh poor poor you. i was all happy for you tonight. i'm sorry you were sick.
Oh, so sorry you missed it! And I was "watching" mostly with my ears, so I missed Seth, too.
There's definitely a Murphy's Law quality to these things; Jon took M & B to the World Series. They were there about an hour before game time, the kids ate various stadium food, and about three minutes after the first pitch Baxter was doubled over in pain, demanding to go home.
I went and got him (Sophie fell asleep in the car on the way, so a police officer had to help me get to B without leaving S); half an hour later he was watching the game from the couch, all pain gone. :P
you poor thing for missing out. YA know when you first become a mother you really have no idea how much you'll miss out on. Then once they come you see, BUT in the end you get back so much more when they do the sweet things kids do. I'm very sad you couldn't go, but at least you had a tv :)
LOL being a mom and getting sick is, I say the best and hardest job all at the same time.
aw rats. rats. rats. rats. I'm sorry, sweetie! I was watching and hoping to see Seth, but I never got a glimpse. Now...the more important question...Did you get anywhere close to Jon Stewart while he was here??? ;-) What I wouldn't have given.... LOL!
oh the sacrafice, thank goodness you had Kraft to come to the rescue.
that barack graphic looks like he's smelling something.
I'm sorry you couldn't go - I could have and didn't, and I wasn't sick at all, just LAZY.
hope you're feeling better.
