Travel Girl Winner!

As you may recall, last Wednesday was the October Afternoon Travel Girl blog hop

Well, here I am to announce the winner of the Travel Girl Sew Fun Banners:

I usually do a random drawing, but decided to do something a little more fun this time around. My five-year-old nephew just finished kindergarten. When I saw him a few weeks ago he was giving me the rundown of all of the fun things that his class was going to be doing at the end of the school year. As he was getting close to the end, he said, "And on the penultimate day of school..." Of course, I have no idea what he was going to be doing on the penultimate day of school, as it took everything in my power to focus on not giggling uncontrollably upon hearing such a big word come out of the mouth of such a little (and cute!) kid, thereby rendering it impossible for me to continue to listen. So...in honor of my nephew, Reggie, I have picked the penultimate poster - the person whose comment was next to last when it was time for me to go to bed last night.

Without further ado, the winner of the Sew Fun banners is:

October Afternoon Travel Girl Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the October Afternoon Travel Girl blog hop! Today we are celebrating the fun new Travel Girl line:

I am in love with this line, as it has a little bit of everything: clean and graphic prints, whimsical designs, vintage imagery - both older and newer vintage, plus elegant and sophisticated patterns.

Here's my favorite example of each:

Clean and Graphic (B Side of the Train Case Patterned Paper)

Whimsical (A Side of the Mix Tape Patterned Paper)

Vintage (A Side of the Guide Book Patterned Paper)

Elegant and Sophisticated (A Side of the Train Case Patterned Paper)

I mixed some clean and graphic (patterned paper) with older vintage (Sew Fun Banners and Miscellany) with newer vintage (Miscellany) to create this fun little card:

See the postcard and bicycle? Those bits are part of the Sew Fun Banner set from this line:

If you aren't familiar with October Afternoon's Sew Fun Banners, they are a unique and versatile product! Six different double-sided banner sets come in the pack (you are seeing just one side of three of the sets here). You can run them through your sewing machine to create actual banners, can choose just a few pieces and create a smaller banner on a layout or card, can use them as embellishments with dimensional adhesive (the circles are perfect for this!), etc.

So...or should I say, "sew"...want a chance to win a set of these Sew Fun Banners? If so (if sew...I am having too much fun with this...), please leave a comment below to be entered to win. You have up until Tuesday, June 18th, to leave a comment, as the winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 19th.

Be sure to travel through the entire blog hop, as each of us is giving away a different prize! In all likelihood, you arrived here from Amy Heller's blog. The next stop on the hop is Aleksandra Gadji's blog. Here's the entire list of stops on the blog hop:

Some Things I've Done Lately

Just catching up here - lots going on around here and I've neglected ye olde blog.

Yesterday, I had a blog post up at October Afternoon and used this inspiration image:

to create this layout:

Be sure to check out the post on the October Afternoon blog to see a stunning layout from fellow team member, Jill, who had a very different take on the inspiration image.

I also had a set of cards up on the Pebbles blog on May 29th for Whip It Up Wednesday:

Be sure to check out the post on the Pebbles blog to see another project from fellow team member, Shawna, who also created a fun set of cards.

Speaking of Pebbles, if you are a Pebbles fan, their annual design team call went up yesterday on the blog! :)

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a chance to win something. Piqued your interest? Check back tomorrow! :)

Pie Chart Art

I found a really fun inspiration piece in the Mini Boden catalog and decided to use it as the inspiration for today's challenge on the October Afternoon blog:

I thought this idea was a neat twist on the pie chart trend and decided to interpret it using the new October Afternoon Travel Girl collection (with a bit of Daily Flash Snapshots thrown in), using four amazing photos I was lucky enough to capture:

Here's a closer look at the pie chart map:

For additional details, and for a closer look at another project inspired by the inspiration piece, be sure to check out the October Afternoon blog

I Love Daily Flash. I Really, Really Love Daily Flash

Some of you may have tracked that October Afternoon is coming out with a new line, well, a new system, really, called Daily Flash. I've been working with the first Daily Flash mini collection: Snapshots, and created this layout for today's sketch challenge on the October Afternoon blog:

What's not to love about this line? Bold patterned papers, bright colors, paper you can use in big bits and little bits, lots of fun embellishments...sigh...

Here are the products I used on this layout:

Daily Flash Snapshots Snap Caps

Daily Flash Snapshots Flash Blurbs

Daily Flash Snapshots Click!

Daily Flash Snapshots Compose

Daily Flash Snapshots Memory Cards

I think I'm going to need about five of everything in this line! :)

Parsnips? Yes, Parsnips.

Catching up here with a layout from the Pebbles blog:

Anyone else out there with a parsnip obsession? Or are we Maskets weird? (Okay, okay, I know the answer to that question. :))
